On my recent trip to Norway, I had the chance to visit Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, just outside Bergen.
Hillesvåg is a family-run Norwegian wool mill that has been spinning yarn since 1898. Yarn is produced from Norwegian wool on several machines still in operation after more than 100 years thanks to great care and daily use. Local hands are involved every step of the way - every hank is still hand-tied after winding, then hand-twisted after dyeing and drying.
There was something so very lovely about seeing that combination of history, skill and good-quality Norwegian wool all happening under one roof. I definitely recommend a tour if you are travelling in the area - you can book on their website!
