Vanilla Sock Workshop / 4 sessions (Starts Sat 24th Oct)

When: 4 Saturday morning sessions, running on the 24th Oct, 31st Oct, 7th Nov and 14th Nov 2026.
10am-12.30pm each day.

Tickets are $145 per person, this includes 4 x 2.5 hour classes and the pattern, as well as tea/coffee + something sweet!

Experience level This class is suitable for people who have never knitted socks but are familiar with knitting in the round and the magic loop technique, and possibly have knitted at small gauge before. It is also suitable for knitters who have some experience with socks but want to learn a few extra tricks! Please email or call us if you would like to discuss suitability.

Lets learn to knit your first vanilla sock!

In this 4 week course, Daniela will teach you how to knit a cuff-down sock with fingering or 4 ply yarn - including the heel flap and gusset construction.

Week 1 - Finding your size and casting on.
Week 2 - Knitting the leg of the sock.
Week 3 - Knit heel turn, gusset + begin foot.
Week 4 - Complete foot + toe using Kitchener stitch technique.

Pattern Provided
The pattern covered is the Melbourne Sock pattern by Kath Martin, which includes information about variations on cuff, heel and toe construction.

Please bring:

• A set of 2.25mm/80 cm circular needles or your favourite needles if you have done socks before.
• 100 gr. 4 ply sock yarn in your favourite colour, or in two colours if you would like to do the cuff and toe in a contrasting colour.
• A stitch marker
• A darning needle
• Scissors

Our shop opens at 10am so we will be setting up before this time - as such, please arrive from 10am for a 10.15am start.

Calico & Ivy is just a hop skip and a jump from the Swanbourne Train Station, or you can find car parking behind our shop. There are some lovely coffee shops on our strip if you arrive early!
