Tiny Friends Workshop / 3 x Classes

Cost: $160 per person. This includes 3 classes, a Tiny Friends Makers Kit and tea/coffee/afternoon tea. Pattern needs to be purchased separately.

Join us for our Tiny Friends workshop series to learn how to stitch your own utterly adorable Tiny Friend!

Tonomi Minura's whimsical Tiny Friends are stuffed animals created using mosaic embroidery, a technique based on simple darning stitches. Kelly and Liv have both made their own tiny friends and have fallen completely in love with the technique - and now they would love to help guide you through the process!

Please note that mosaic embroidery is a mindful and slow practice - you will need to be able to dedicate time at home to work on your project in between classes. The aim of the classes is to help you develop the skills you will need to work on your Tiny Friend and complete them with confidence in your own time.

Outline:

Class 1 - Picking a pattern, drawing out your shapes and practicing the stitches. 

Class 2 - Continue working on your stitches, trouble shoot any tricky areas and embellishments.

Class 3 - Preparing pieces for joining, begin stitching together.

Class Requirements:
+ Tiny Friends book (available here)

 + As part of your workshop fee we will provide you with your own Tiny Friends Maker Kit. Each Tiny Friends Maker Kit includes supplies for one tiny friend:

• Linen base fabric

• 8 x hand dyed mini spools (Hedgehog Fibres or similar 4ply)

• Nurge 16" x 160mm deep Embroidery hoop (our favourite, top quality hoop)

• Sohmo Tapestry Needles

+ You will also need to bring scissors/snips and a fabric marker.

Optional: Needle threader, thimble.

The Tiny Friends book can be purchased seperately, here. This popular book includes illustrations and step-by-step instructions for 13 of Tomomis beautiful animal characters. Extra tools + supplies are also available to purchase in store on the day. :-)
