This purse was designed by Hitomi Fujita for QH Textiles. It was made in Japan and features a lovely, traditional shippo pattern over yarn dyed, 100% cotton fabric. The pattern and the marks are printed using water-soluble ink and can be washed away after the bag is made. This gorgeous fabric is reminiscent of silk tsumugi fabrics where the yarn is dyed before the cloth is woven. This is also called "shot fabric". The warp threads of the fabrics are black while the weft threads are a natural white color. The different colored warp and weft threads provide the fabric with a wonderful depth of color that changes depending on the light source. The lightweight cotton has natural slubbing giving the fabric a wonderful texture. The fabric has a subtle sheen and soft, woven texture.
The entire cloth measures about 13 3/4 inches x 25 5/8 inches (35cm x 45 cm) and the finished size of the purse is about 6 7/8 inches (17.5 cm) wide x 7 1/2 inches (18.5 cm) high x 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) deep.
