Handstitched Liberty Pincushion Workshop with Anna Bastiaan / 9.30am - 3.30pm Sunday 26th July

Some of Anna's best known and most beloved creations are her Liberty and Linen embroidered pincushions - most commonly featuring an embroidered Queen Bee in the centre, surrounded by a garden of tiny Liberty covered hexagons. Each pincushion Anna makes features linen, embroidery and Liberty London fabrics, used in a variety of ways to create wreath-like motifs.

Join Anna for a day to make these divine little pincushions from start to finish, using English paper piecing, applique and embroidery. It is a lovely, achievable project on which to learn some new skills and add a little beauty to your sewing kit.

Class price includes a kit which contains your hand-drawn Queen Bee embroidery design on a pre-cut and stabilised linen circle, the pincushion base, a little bit of stuffing, a selection of Liberty London fabrics and hexagon papers – everything you need to make the Queen Bee pincushion. If you would prefer to create one of Anna’s other pincushions designs (featuring an embroidered wreath around a tiny Liberty fabric vignette), she will also hand-draw a wreath for you to embroider on the day.

Ticket fee includes tuition, starter kit and tea/coffee and refreshments. Additional Liberty fabrics are available at at Calico & Ivy.

Please bring basic sewing supplies - needle, thread, snips.

About the artist...
Anna is a creative in Melbourne who works out of her home studio making textile-based artworks. Her work is often inspired by nature and the world around her, and embodies a sense of whimsy, magic and a love for the long-lost slower pace of life. With a focus on mindful hand-stitching and a deep love of the creative process, Anna helps students fall in love with the simplicity of pulling needle and thread through fabric and encourages them to bring their own personalisation to their work.

• All workshops to be paid in full at the time of booking.
• Bookings can be made online, in-store or over the phone on (08) 9383 3794.
• Workshop fees will be refunded if workshop is cancelled by Calico & Ivy. 
• Tuition + travel fees for visiting teachers are paid upfront by us, as such no refunds for tickets will be possible - but you are welcome to transfer your class to a friend if you are unable to attend.
• Please remember that our space is also open as a retail shop and be mindful that our staff's attention will be shared with other customers and shop duties. Patience and courtesy is appreciated and a requirement from all class participants.
• Please do not attend workshops if you are ill/sick as this compromises the health of everybody else in the space and puts any of our immunocompromised customers/staff at risk.
