Happy Holidays!! Please note, online orders placed outside of our opening hours will be packaged for pick up or post during our next work day.
ISAGER ALPACA 1 is an ultra thin, two ply yarn made from 100% Alpaca. We use this yarn both individually, especially for scarves, but mainly we knit this yarn together with a strand of one of our other yarns. Any yarn will ‘benefit’ from being knitted together with Alpaca 1. The colour range offers many interesting effects. One strand of Alpaca 1 makes an interesting new shade when combined with another colour. One strand of Alpaca 1 can also add unity and bind colours together in a work where many colours are used.
Alpaca 1: 3 mm needles= 28 sts / 34 rows
Alpaca 1 + Alpaca 1: 3 mm needles = 26 sts/ 30 rows
Alpaca 1 + Alpaca 2: 3,5 mm needles = 24 sts/ 28 rows
Alpaca 1 + Silk Mohair: 4mm needles = 18 sts/ 24 rows
HOW TO WASH YOUR WOOLEN GARMENTS
Wool should be washed by hand unless you have a washing machine that uses lukewarm water (below 28° Celsius) and has a very gentle wool cycle. Alpaca fibre can be adversely affected by products containing lanolin, as it fills up the hollow fibres. Make sure your detergent does not contain lanolin.
To avoid felting, please observe the following:
Use very little soap and use a wool mark approved detergent. Be careful to keep the same temperature during the entire washing and rinsing process (not above 28° Celsius). After washing and rinsing place the garment in a washing bag and spin it lightly in a washing machine. Then place the garment flat on towel and leave to dry.
Woolen garments do not necessarily need washing very often. Airing outside in damp weather will often be sufficient. Yarns from cotton and yarns made from mixed fibres containing flax and bamboo could be washed in warm water, but still we recommend the same washing instructions as for wool.
