Full day 24/5/2024 Workshop Details
Calico & Ivy is deliriously happy to welcome Mary Jane to Australia, this is her first stop and her first workshop of the tour. With small group size (maximum 12 per class) you will receive plenty of individual attention, as well as encouragement to try something new.
This workshop has been designed by Mary Jane to complement her latest book "Grand Shetland Adventure Knits". We work from one of the 14 patterns in the book, the "Swatchtastic Hat". Any of the motif patterns in the book can be adapted to fit the hat pattern, your choice to work from the primary pattern or learn how to adapt it for a different motif and your own colour scheme if desired.
Spend the day with Mary Jane - she will share many tips and techniques to improve your enjoyment of, and confidence in colourwork knitting. Mary-Jane will also be discussing colour choice and placement. You will hear about her Shetland Island experiences, the history of the island and its special yarn and traditional colourwork knitting as well as the evolution of the new book.
You will find this workshop suitable if you are an advanced beginner/intermediate knitter, skills required: joining and working in the round, ability to maintain consistent tension in your knitting. If you are already an experienced colourwork knitter, you will expand your horizons and enjoy learning from one of the world's best colourwork teachers.
